Writing Under Pressure Workshop: College Writing Exam Prep
This one-hour workshop is designed to help students understand the basics needed to do well on the timed College Writing Exam. Topics discussed in the 50-minute workshop include: brainstorming, thesis development, common errors, and qualities of a well-written essay.
- Writing Consultations
You may sign up for a ½ hour consultation with a peer writing consultant or a Professional Writing Specialist to go over a class paper. (Before you sign up for an individual appointment to review a College Writing Exam essay, we ask that you consider attending the Writing Under Pressure Workshop first.)
- How to Proofread for Clear and Correct Writing:
Learn what proofreading and editing are and ways to do both so you can find and correct your own sentence errors. You can take this one-time workshop from 12:00 to 12:50 on any of the following Thursdays: 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/15, 3/22. 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26.
- Essay Test Strategies
Through a step-by-step process, learn the best ways to approach timed essay and short-answer test questions. You can take this one-time workshop from 12:00 to 12:50 on any of the following Fridays: 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27.
- COMP - Professional Writing Consultation
This service is designed for students who need sustained assistance in writing. Students enrolled in professional writing consultation will meet with a writing center instructor for ½ hour twice per week. There is a limit of 10 hours per semester for this service.
